The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has determined in a landmark case that because Amazon is a distributor for items sold on its website, it is responsible for products that are defective or dangerous. This significant decision comes on the heels of a successful ruling by the Louisiana Supreme Court in a death case brought by Houston lawyers Richard Mithoff and Janie Jordan, who sued Amazon and said the company was responsible under the Louisiana Product Liability Act for selling dangerous products.
